Come build hugelkulur -permaculture, self-sustaining, organic raised garden beds which will grow amazing organic vegetables and fruit for ever!

In addition to building and working on huglelkultur raised beds, we will cultivate beneficial microorganisms, learn how to make organic compost tea, explore composting, worm composting and learn how to make home-made compost accelerators. And, of course, taste organic fruit, vegetables and herbs fresh from the gardens.

We’ll also show you how you can use the same  permaculture principles in your garden at home!!  And give you organic seeds to take home!

Retreat cost: $650/person-  7nights private room/ organic meals (most of the fruit and vegetables fresh from the garden), hands on learning organic gardening workshop, and free time to explore Hawai’i! ($500 second person sharing a room).

Farmer’s Market:  Saturday morning SPACE market is the place to find local, organic herbs, fruit and vegetables, Made in Hawaii jewelry, art, crafts, fresh juices, honey, fresh baked bread, and hot food. Walking distance.

Lava viewing:  Stroll down our private access to Kaimu black-sand beach.  Marvel at the 1989-1991 lava flows.  Catch a glimpse of the red glow from active lava on Mauna Loa.    Active lava can also be seen at Volcano National Park and by helicopter tour.

Painted Church –   Star of the Sea Painted Church boasts beautiful folk art style painted murals.  Renowned pastor, Father Damien was once pastor here, before he went to Kalaupapa.

Star Visitors Sanctuary –  Dedicated by Kingdom of Hawaii officials as a sanctuary place for extra-terrestrial visitors. (earth visitors also welcome).

Kalapana Beach –  walk to one of the newest beaches on the planet!  A beautiful black sand beach created by the 1989-91 lava flow.  A tradition is to take a sprouted coconut palm and plant it in the sand near the ocean.
